There just might be something about Sunday hockey that speaks to the 2023-2024 Sudbury U15 A Lady Wolves team this year.

Sure, the locals posted a pair of wins in round robin play at the recent Niagara Rapids Fall Classic, blanking the Etobicoke Dolphins 1-0 and toppling the Mooretown Lady Flags 4-1.

But the team were also on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreboard against both the Grand River Mustangs and Mississauga Hurricanes. Their record of 2-2-0 secured third spot in a division of six teams, leading to a Sunday morning rematch with Mississauga.

This one was no contest as May Corson, Juliana Theriault, Dalia Belanger, Joely Angus and Lia Gallo all scored in the semis, with Zara Daoust recording the shutout as Sudbury rolled into the finals with a 5-0 whipping of the Canes.

More of the same in the final, a huge 4-0 triumph over Grand River with Joely Angus, Kahlan Judd, Makayla Paris and May Corson handling the offense while Emilie Joly was flawless between the pipes at the other end of the rink.

Rounding out the team roster this year are Anika Rheaume, Valérie Prevost, Gabby Cholette, Ella Gatien, Trinity Cheechoo, Ryan Snow, Avery Mininni, and Rowan Frood.
