With plenty of Canadian and U.S. post-secondary women's hockey coaches on hand, a pair of Sudbury Lady Wolves teams were anxious to show well at the Etobicoke Exhibition Series over the course of the long weekend.

And while the entirety of the local contingent went undefeated, it was the U15 AA crew that managed to run the table with three consecutive victories, showing early signs of being able to contend in a division in which Sudbury has never, ever captured a medal at OWHA Provincials.

Coach Eric Navarro and company opened play with a 4-0 whitewashing of the Belleville Bearcats as goals from Alexa Labrecque, Olivia Carriere, Hannah Adler and Audrey McKinnon provided more than ample support for the shutout netminding of Keanna Navarro.

Game two was closer as Timmins native Lacey Rivers stole the show, scoring twice to lead the Lady Wolves to a 4-2 win over the Ottawa Lady 67's, with Sophie Gauld and Raina Gauthier rounding out the attack.

Gauld and Labrecque were back on the scoresheet in game three as Sudbury made it three for three with a 2-1 win over the host Etobicoke Dolphins.

Rounding out the 2023-2024 team roster are Jonna Ajueze, Ryann Chevrier, Sadie Frantz, Whitney Basso, Isla Cirillo, Paige Taylor, Leah Salo and Isabella Perry, with goaltender Kloe Rienguette (U13 AA Lady Wolves) lending a helping hand for this event.

Meanwhile, the Sudbury U18 AA Lady Wolves posted a record of 1-0-2, playing to a pair of ties before thumping the Caledon Coyotes 6-2 in their final encounter.

Payton Stos handled the scoring in game one as Sudbury and the Ottawa Lady 67's deadlocked at 1-1, with scoring bumping up somewhat in game two. A pair of goals from Maija Potvin and another from Kynlee Cresswell allowed the Lady Wolves to salvage a 3-3 draw with the North York Storm on Sunday morning.

The floodgates really opened in the finale as Chloe Martin, Jillian Landry, Katelyn Jacques, Madison Hollohan, Maija Potvin and Payton Stos all found the back of the net for the local team looking to make a return to provincials after being upset by the North Bay Ice Boltz in regional playdowns one year ago.
